Hardwood vs Softwoods


Hardwoods are deciduous, it typically produces a harder and denser wood than softwood. Some Popular hardwoods include Acacia, Rosewood, and Oak. In contrast, softwood have needles and they are known as conifers. Since hardwoods has been mostly used as a material for manufacturing furniture, we will introduce some different types of hardwoods.

Acacia wood:
Acacia wood is a smooth, lustrous hardwood that takes a fine polish and has a coarse texture with a close, straight grain. This strong, dense wood is used in furniture as well as housing and boats and it is becoming more prevalent in the furniture market as it is beautiful and grows quickly.

Rosewood:
Rosewood is heavy, hard and dense with high bending and crushing strengths, shock resistance, good stability, steam bending and very durable heartwood. It has long been prized for yielding fine solid wood and veneer for use in fine furniture, cabinetry, and high-end architectural woodwork.

Oak:
Oak is the most widely used hardwood because of its beauty, durability, and strength. It is a light colored wood with prominent rings and large pores that gives it a course texture and distinctive grain. Used throughout the world in furniture manufacturing, the Oak has a high shock resistance.

Teak:
Because of its long life, reliability and resistance to insects and weather, teak wood is widely used to construct furniture and ships. Teak is also rich in natural oils, so it is very durable and resistant to moisture and drying effects of weather exposure. it is ideal for fine furniture, flooring veneer and other accessories.
